The following five images are excerpts from Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, the first novel in the Harry Potter series. In order to truly understand the effect the death of Harry's parents had on him, the reader must go back to the beginning of the series. Here we see that Harry was lied to about how his parents died. The only way for Harry to come to terms with their death is to understand how and why they died and what they did to protect him. This is the only way he can bond with them and then move on.
We see in these pages how much of an affect Lily and James had on those around them. Professor McGonnagall, Hagrid, and Dumbledore are all greatly affected by their death.
